Course Aims |
Completion of Research Thesis I is the pre-requisite of enrollment of Research Thesis II and Research Thesis III. Research Thesis I, II and III comprise a three-semester sequence that aims to provide an opportunity for students to conduct their independent research studies in psychology under the supervision of departmental staff. During the three-semester endeavor, students are required to go through the entire research process, including conceptualizing the thesis topic, conducting literature survey, formulating research hypotheses, designing the research method, collecting data, testing the hypotheses, presenting findings and writing up their theses in accordance with the APA stipulation. Students who undertake Research Thesis I must submit a formal research proposal at the end of the course.

Course Intended Learning Outcomes (CILOS) |
After completing the course, students should be able to: 1. identify knowledge gaps or areas of interest for research; 2. conduct thorough literature survey; 3. formulate hypotheses or questions;
4. design an appropriate research protocol;; 5. conduct preliminary studies prior to the writing of research proposal; and 6. aptly present the findings of preliminary studies and research proposal.
