Course Aims
The aims for this course are to give students a theoretical base for working with adolescents, to train the students in the practical skills and techniques for working with adolescents, to help students to integrate the above two goals in their practical work, and to consider in general the developmental psychology of this population.
Course Intended Learning Outcomes (CILOS)

After completing the course, students should be able to:

1. identify the basic principles and concepts of adolescent counselling;
 
2. identify the main developmental issues and needs of adolescents;
 
3. identify the ways family backgrounds and family dynamics affect the development of adolescents;
 
4. describe their own growing up and family dynamics which affect their counselling process;
 
5. effectively assess adolescents needs in a counselling situation;
 
6. apply appropriate intervention strategies and counselling skills for situational and developmental crises commonly experienced by adolescents;
 
7. apply implications of current researches related to counselling of adolescents; and
 
8. Understand the special issues facing adolescence
