Course Aims
This course will introduce students to the fundamental knowledge and considerations in designing a research study. Students will be equipped with the concepts, ethical awareness and theoretical principles on which empirical research is based. Throughout the course, the discussion of conceptual and methodological issues will be integrated with hands-on practice of quantitative data analysis techniques. The course aims at preparing students to be consumers, critics and producers of scientific knowledge to advance the field of psychology.
Course Intended Learning Outcomes (CILOS)
After completing the course, students should be able to:
 
1. Explain the concepts and theoretical principles underlying the design and implementation of psychology research
 
2. Demonstrate awareness over research-related ethical issues and how research may inform effective practice in psychology
 
3. Choose the appropriate research method to answer a research question on hand 
 
4. Collect, analyze, interpret and present data effectively according to the APA format
