Course Aims |
This course is designed to facilitate students’ self-awareness and self-reflection of diversity issues, which is of importance to the professional development of play therapists. During the course, students are expected to actively engage in various experiential and didactic activities in order to increase their knowledge, awareness, sensitivity, and critical thinking about the different facets of diversity at both individual and cultural levels, and how these relate to their future work as play therapists.

l Describe the development, challenges, and potentiality of multiculturalism in the profession of play therapy. l Apply different multicultural concepts, theories and models to their personal life and clinical experiences. l Explain one’s personal identity dimensions from the socio-cultural perspectives in the world as well as in Hong Kong. l Express awareness and critical thinking of their assumptions, attitudes, beliefs, and values in relation to their personal and professional development. l Analyze the dynamic interplay between personal, social, and cultural factors in facilitating or impeding the clinical process. |
