Course Aims |
This course builds on the foundational course of Introduction to Play Therapy, through developing the student’s knowledge and awareness of approaches to play therapy as well as their skills for use in play therapy cases. While the course “Introduction to Play Therapy” focused on Child-Centered Play Therapy approach, this course will further discuss the usage of CCPT in group and other specific population, commonly seen play stage and play theme will also be discussed. Additionally, students will also be introduced to the Play Therapy Dimensions Model to understand the diversity of the Play Therapy families. Further theoretical approaches to play therapy including Adlerian Play Therapy (AdPT), Cognitive-Behavioural Play Therapy (CBPT), Gestalt Play Therapy and other approaches will be introduced, with an opportunity for critical reflection and skills practice of relevant techniques.
