Course Aims |
This course is designed to facilitate students’ self-awareness of diversity issues, which is of importance to the professional development of counselling psychologists. During the course, students are expected to actively engage in various experiential and didactic activities in order to increase their knowledge, awareness, sensitivity, and critical thinking about the different facets of diversity at both individual and cultural levels, and how these relate to their future work as counselling psychologists.

Course Intended Learning Outcomes (CILOS) |
1. Explain the development, challenges, and potentiality of multiculturalism in the profession of psychology in general and counselling psychology in specific. 2. Apply multicultural concepts, theories and models to personal life and professional experiences. 3. Describe multiple identities development from a multicultural awareness perspective relating to the world and Hong Kong phenomena. 4. Express sensitivity and critical reflection of their assumptions, attitudes, beliefs, and values in relation to different personal identity dimensions.
5. Analyze the dynamic interplay between personal, social, and cultural factors in facilitating or impeding diversity dialogues.
