Supervision Hours
Students work out a schedule of appointments with their clinical supervisors to discuss the progress of their clinical work. They are required to meet regularly with their clinical supervisors on both individual and group bases. The minimum number of supervision hours is 13. The recommended ratio of individual supervision hours to group supervision hours is 10:3. (Students are required to work two full weekdays per week in Internship)

Course Aims
This module provides students with the opportunity to work in a real clinical environment under close and intensive supervision. Students are required to practise as intern counselling psychologists at the Counselling and Research Centre (CRC) of the University, and to undertake the full gamut of Counselling Psychology tasks, including conducting clinical interviews, performing psychological assessment, writing intake assessment reports, preparing treatment plans and group counselling proposals, delivering interventions, and evaluating treatment outcomes. Students will have ample opportunities to consolidate their clinical and conceptualization skills and to become more familiarized with professional issues.

Course Intended Learning Outcomes (CILOS)

At the completion of the Internship, students will be able to:

1. Practice counselling and psychotherapy with awareness of professional and ethical issues.

2. Evaluate whether clients are viable candidates for treatment by the respective theoretical approaches.

3. Evaluate the empirical bases of therapeutic techniques and strategies.

4. Appraise their own counselling competencies.

5. Demonstrate professional attitude in clinical supervision and daily operation of a counselling service agency.
